Sustainable Shampoo

It used to be that low-waste shampoo was hard to find, not that great, and lacking variety. As more and more people are moving away from harmful chemicals and unnecessary waste, better and better options for earth-friendly shampoos have emerged. Because of this, we at Sankoty Sustainables are able to offer multiple options to keep your hair sustainably silky!

Three common types of sustainable shampoos on the market are “dry” shampoo, bar shampoos and conditioners, and bulk liquid shampoos and conditioners. Each type of shampoo has its own set of pros, and you may find that having all three on hand for different occasions is the way to go.

We actually carry two dry shampoos in the sense that only one of the shampoos we offer is in liquid form, but mostly when people say “dry shampoo,” they are referring to the powder worn in between hair washes. This powder shampoo absorbs oil, gives tired strands of hair a break from the trauma of over-washing, and may have light fragrance or coloring. The dry shampoo that we offer is handmade by us with all natural ingredients and sold in a cardboard shaker, ensuring there are no nasty chemicals or plastic waste!

The other non-liquid shampoo we carry is bar shampoo, and we carry a variety (plus the conditioners to match)! These turn into liquid suds when water is added in the shower, similar to a bar of soap, but carefully crafted for delicate hair. Shampoo bars are ideal for travel, as they can be packed in a carry-on without needing to remove them for TSA checkpoints.

If dry or dry-ish shampoo just isn’t your thing, we also offer a quality liquid shampoo at several local refill bars (or you can send us a message to order a refill). Because we buy this shampoo and conditioner in bulk, our customers can reuse their favorite bottle to refill, reducing waste.

When it comes to sustainable hair care, you don’t have to sacrifice quality. The shampoos we offer are either handmade or planet-friendly and always tested by yours truly, making hair care a breeze (but not so strong a breeze it messes up your hair).
