National Clean Up Day 2022

This Trash Talk Tuesday, we are not alone in our fight against waste! On September 17, 2022, over 60 MILLION volunteers in 191 countries are going to join together for World Clean Up Day and National Clean Up Day to clean up our planet!

World Clean Up Day officially began in 2018 with about 17 million volunteers worldwide, but the inspiration for this movement began in 2008, when 50,000 Estonians decided to get together and clean up their entire country in JUST FIVE HOURS. Led by the organization Letโ€™s Do It World, through grassroots awareness efforts, education, and empowerment of local communities, World Clean Up Day has spread across the globe and partnered with other clean up events, including National Clean Up Day here in the United States!

National Clean Up Day is being held on the same day in conjunction with World Clean Up Day, and it began with a couple of hiking buddies who made a game out of cleaning up trash while on the trail. Eventually the game led to other people joining in, which led to an idea, and before they knew it, National Clean Up Day was born. This year, over 2 million volunteers in the United States are expected to participate in National Clean Up Day events, all from two guys picking up a little trash here and there!

The event in Estonia in 2008 and the events under World Clean Up Day and National Clean Up Day since prove that even a small change, when multiplied many times over, can lead to big results! We can all do our part to reduce our waste and help clean up the waste in our environment (whether we put it there or not). If you would like to be a part of the change in your community, we encourage you to check out ๐—ก๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น๐—–๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—จ๐—ฝ๐——๐—ฎ๐˜†.๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ด, where you can find a clean up near you, START a clean up near you, or register for updates for year-round events.
