Tips for a Green Halloween

Welcome to another Trash Talk Tuesday! One of kids’ favorite holidays for accumulating candy and dressing up is right around the corner: Halloween!

There are many options for making a fun costume for you children. Those who enjoy crafting can create a wonderfully scary masterpiece that their child will love. You can get things from around your house or go to a local craft store. For those unable to make a Halloween costume, finding a more eco-friendly costume is a wonderful option. Finding something that isn’t made of plastic, swapping costumes or using face paint for added flare are some alternatives. Going to the thrift store can be a fun and inexpensive way for your child to engage in picking out the different parts of their costume. Finding a reusable bucket/basket that isn’t made of plastic can reduce waste. When picking out candy, find candy individually wrapped in paper or foil because it can usually be recycled. However, check with local guidelines for further detail.
